Announcement of New CWE President
The Board of Directors of the Consortium for Worker Education is pleased to announce the selection of Marco A. Carrión as CWE’s next President. He brings a wealth of experience in the government, labor, and nonprofit sectors to the position. Mr. Carrión is currently the Executive Director of El Puente, a 43 year old human rights organization operating in New York City and Puerto Rico. He previously was appointed by the New York City Mayor as the Commissioner of Community Affairs, a position he held for seven years. Prior to serving as Commissioner, Mr. Carrión was the Political and Legislative Director of the New York City Central Labor Council and Chief of Staff to a NYS Senator. Earlier in his career, he held roles with the NYS Governor, AFL-CIO and United Federation of Teachers. The Board is confident that Mr. Carrión is an ideal leader for the next phase of CWE’s development. He will join CWE on February 3, 2025.
