We realize that one of the biggest challenges to finding a well-paying job is not having a Driver’s License. Airports, delivery companies, uniformed services, utilities, auto and truck rental and repair, are all off limits if you don’t have a valid license. That’s where L2C is here to help!
L2C is a new partnership between New York City’s Young Men’s Initiative, the Mayor’s Office of Talent and Workforce Development, and the Consortium for Worker Education, a network of unions and community organizations dedicated to providing you with a full range of driver’s education, industry skills training, and job placement services. Our free Driver’s Ed classes will take you from your permit through classroom prep, behind the wheel road training, scheduling your DMV test, and a vehicle to test in. Rules for engagement:
Driving lessons and road test must be scheduled within 6 months of sign up.
Participants must let the driving school know 24 hours in advance (at minimum) if they will not make it to a lesson.
After 3 missed lessons, participants can no longer participate in the program.
No call, no show (5-hr course/road test) results in termination from the program.
Your license is the key to unlocking a whole range of industry training, apprenticeship, and employment services. Once you have earned your driver’s license, you can move on to:
Jobs to Build On
JtBO is a city-wide training to placement network offering a wide variety of industry specific training to placement programs leading to quality employment. Sectors include construction, TV and film production, transportation, IT and others. Best of all, you can enroll in training while you’re getting your Driver’s License. Learn More Here.
NYMAP
The NYATLAS program focuses on the private and public transportation industries, linking our L2C participants with cutting edge training opportunities as mechanics, fleet technicians, route couriers and apprenticeships; unionized positions with solid pay and benefits. Once you have your license, you can enroll directly in NYATLAS.
Direct Job Placement
If you have work experience, credentials and/or feel you’re ready to get into the workforce, we have direct placement through JtBO and NYATLAS networks into full time employment.
